Select an image. Ubuntu is distributed on two types of images described below. The desktop image allows you to try Ubuntu without changing your computer at all, and at your option to install it permanently later. Canonical releases new versions of Ubuntu every six months and supports Ubuntu for eighteen months by providing security fixes, patches to critical bugs and minor updates to programs. LTS (Long Term Support) versions, which are released every two years, are supported for three years on the desktop and five years for servers. This installs, chrome version 45 which does not support NPAPI plug-ins that is needed to run java inside browser. I am trying to move one or two versions older, so that i can use this feature, but there is no info on net available. In the meanwhile, sudo dpkg-query -l '.google-chrome.' shows only chrome 45.
Ubuntu 12.04 LTS reached its regular End of Life onApril28, 2017. No more package updates, including security updates, will beaccepted to the 12.04 primary archive.
But what if you want to remove all versions kept on the system for all snap packages that had updates? This is a script created by Popey, Community Manager in Ubuntu Engineering at Canonical, to remove ALL old versions of snaps, only keeping the current active version (updated with LANG=enUS.UTF-8 so it works with non-English locales, thanks. It is the ordinary version of the Ubuntu and can easily get on the slower versions of the laptops and also require very less RAM size. If the size of the RAM is equal to 2 GB then this Operating system is completely fine.

Ubuntu Latest 32 Bit Version

64-bit PC (AMD64) desktop CDUbuntu Mate Older Versions
Choose this if you have a computer based on the AMD64 or EM64T architecture (e.g., Athlon64, Opteron, EM64T Xeon, Core 2). If you have a non-64-bit processor made by AMD, or if you need full support for 32-bit code, use the i386 images instead. Choose this if you are at all unsure.
32-bit PC (i386) desktop CDFor almost all PCs. This includes most machines with Intel/AMD/etc type processors and almost all computers that run Microsoft Windows, as well as newer Apple Macintosh systems based on Intel processors.
Server install CD
The server install cd allows you to install Ubuntu permanently on a computer for use as a server. It will not install a graphical user interface.
64-bit PC (AMD64) server install CDChoose this if you have a computer based on the AMD64 or EM64T architecture (e.g., Athlon64, Opteron, EM64T Xeon, Core 2). If you have a non-64-bit processor made by AMD, or if you need full support for 32-bit code, use the i386 images instead. Choose this if you are at all unsure.

Alternate install CD
The alternate install cd allows you to perform certain specialist installations of Ubuntu. It provides for the following situations:
- setting up automated deployments;
- upgrading from older installations without network access;
- LVM and/or RAID partitioning;
- installs on systems with less than about 384MiB of RAM (although note that low-memory systems may not be able to run a full desktop environment reasonably).
In the event that you encounter a bug using the alternate installer, please file a bug on the debian-installer package.
