Hardware: Macbook Retine Pro 13'; Software: Ubuntu Gnome with LibreOffice 5.1.4.2 installed directly from repositories. Subsequent starts of LibreOffice are effectively instantaneous. Based on experience with my rather more powerful work laptop, that's considerably faster than MS Office. Ok another interesting finding on the windows 10 64bit with libreoffice 5.0.2 If the box 'use opengl for all rendering' is ticked, then the box 'use hardware acceleration' is unavailable and not ticked.

In Preferences->LibreOffice->View, under Graphics Output, the 'Use hardware acceleration' checkbox is grayed out. I've tried running version 5.2.5.1 on Mac OS X 10.11.6 and 10.10.5. Hi, Hardware acceleration on Windows 10 is turned on by default. Since this option is device driver specific, we suggest that you contact your device manufacturer if they have option to have your driver rollback to the previous version for you to have the option to enable/disable the hardware acceleration. Unless you are using a very slow computer with no graphics acceleration, I recommend these settings in the LibreOffice - View area: Check (on) for Use hardware acceleration Check (on) Use anti-aliasing (for smoother font display). OpenOffice Portable 4.1.1 also show the exact same symptoms, and disabling Hardware Acceleration also solves the tearing problem. OpenOffice 2.3.1 didn't show the bug however, back then there was no hardware acceleration option though, only 'Use OpenGL' and 'Optimized output' which were both disabled by default.
