From the platform that currently has the save file that you want to transfer: In the main menu of Borderlands 2 select the character you wish to transfer. Select the bottom option on the menu, “Cross-Save” While connected to the Sony Entertainment Network/PSN select “Upload Current Character”.
Save transfer is taken care of in the cloud.
Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel game saves are transferable to PS4 and Xbox One editions of The Handsome Collection. Here's how that save transfer system will work.
Players of the existing games must first download the latest patches to enable cross-save for Borderlands 2 and The Pre-Sequel - both set to roll out this week.
Once your games are up to date it's a case of following these steps:
- Ensure all versions of the games are up to date with the latest patch (old-gen and new-gen) and you are connected to PlayStation Network or Xbox Live.
- From the main menu of the PS3 or Xbox 360 versions of BL2 or BL:TPS, choose the 'Cross Save' (PlayStation consoles) or 'Cloud Save' (Xbox consoles), then 'Upload Save' function.
- Once the save has been uploaded, choose 'Cross Save' or 'Cloud Save' then 'Download Save' from the main menu of the PS4 / Xbox One Handsome Collection game for which you're downloading the save.
Only one save may be uploaded at a time. If you have multiple saves to transfer, upload one save, then download it in the Handsome Collection, then repeat the process for successive saves.
Borderlands 2 Save Editor
- To clarify you need to turn on cloud saves on your console, not on Borderlands 2. The upload/download feature is to transfer between the 360 version and the Handsome Collection version. - To bring your save forward to The Handsome Collection, you'll first need to download a patch for Borderlands 2 or The Pre-Sequel that enables cross-save functionality. This update should arrive.
- You'll be able to upload your save to the cloud and transfer your save from Xbox 360 to Xbox One. Saves can only move within the same console family and you'll need to download the patches that.
Other points to note:
- The Xbox family of systems can only move saves from Xbox 360 to Xbox One and not the other way around.
- The PlayStation family of systems can upload / download saves from any system to any other PlayStation system. Think of PS3 / PS4 / PSV as a triangle, and saves can move in any direction (Vita saves are only applicable to BL2 and not BL:TPS).
- Uploading a save does not remove it from the original system, it only creates a copy of the save on the network.
The Handsome Collection launches March 27 on PS4 and Xbox One.
