The AMC 304 was introduced in Jeep vehicles in 1971 in J-series pickups and Wagoneers and in 1972 in the CJ vehicles. Early 304s performed well, so well that frame changes were made to the CJs in '73 to prevent cracks. If you use an impact gun/wrench, then use the lowest torque setting then finish with a torque wrench. Using full torque with an impact at 300-400ft/lbs is just asking to bust a lug post or damage the spacer - the good ones are heavy duty machined aluminum - but they are ALUMINUM.
